Landing in Bahrain – Finished, we are falling into the sea !

A few months back a very funny incident took place on one my flights into Bahrain. I was in the aisle seat, and was completely shocked when my co passenger at the window yelled out a minute before landing. The 7 words which brought dread to me and some of the other fellows nearby make up the title of today’s story. I sympathise with gentleman and can vividly imagine what he felt and saw. So on my next flight in, I got myself a window and my baby Lumix ready to document of our glide over water.

There is something visually exciting about each time we land in Bahrain.  Starting our descent we first encounter the blue sea and the few ships glittering in the distance looking like Lego toys. As we descend further, those new to this route would feel like they were literally falling into the sea. The Bahrain descent  brought back memories of another landing I used to make regularly till a few years ago in Entebbe, on the shores of Lake Victoria.  It is only in the last seconds that we breeze over a small tract of land, followed by the airport fence before hitting the tarmac. I wonder how this experience would pan out on a stormy, cloudy day… any takers ?
